Summary
Thirteen-year-old Benjie Johnson, product of the inner city and resentful of his absent father and intellectual mother, turns to drugs to ease his pain.
Critique
Exceptional writing. Writer seems to have real knowledge of inner city life. Recommend highly. A compact, powerful tale. The narrative technique, presenting a sequence of twenty-three short narratives by the main character and people in his life, is quite effective.
