Critique
A slow read that allows the reader to enjoy the development of the story. A heartwarming, coming-of-age story of a young woman struggling to make it on her own. The characters are realistically portrayed with strengths and flaws. An interesting look at the Midwest in the 1950s with its segregation and prejudices. Highly recommend.
