Summary
Sethe, a former slave, lives in Ohio in a house that is haunted by the ghost of her daughter, `Beloved.` During the hauntings from her daughter, Sethe reveals both the terrible cruelties she and her family endured as slaves, in addition to the terrible acts that Sethe committed in the name of self-preservation.
Critique
Heart-wrenching and lyrical. An important look at what drives people to extremes. 1988 Pulitzer Prize winner. Intense and horrifying. Drenched with historical feel. Highly recommend.
