Summary
German soldier Fidelis Waldvogel emigrates to North Dakota after WWI, setting up a butcher shop and raising his family. Delphine Watzka, daughter of the local drunk, returns home to aid her father. The story of how their lives intersect and of numerous other townspeople of Argus, North Dakota is vividly told in this historical drama.
Critique
Fascinating characters and a rich, complex plot make this book a `can't put down` read. Highly recommended.
