Summary
A self-proclaimed `ice queen` who has always felt responsible for her mother's death lives her life with emotional detachment. When this nameless narrator, now a thirty-something librarian who is obsessed with death and fairy tales, is struck by lightning, she finds it harder and harder to keep up her icy image. She begins a torrid love affair with Lazarus Jones, another lightning-strike survivor, whose own physical and emotional barriers rival her own.
Critique
Filled with symbolism, romance and magic. With some steamy sex scenes. Recommended reading.
