Summary
As antiquarian book dealer Cliff Janeway tries to track down some missing rare first edition children's book titles from a horse owner's collection, he becomes involved with the mystery of the decades-old suspicious death of the owner's wife, the horse-racing world, and murder.
Critique
Fifth book in the series. Cliff is developing as a character as the reader learns more about his strengths and flaws. He is truly having a hard time leaving his former career as a homicide police detective. Fascinating information about book collecting and the book trade. With the horse-racing angle, this title may appeal to Dick Francis fans. Highly recommend.
