Summary
At 23, life is grand for Wes Holloway, especially since he works for the most powerful man in the free world, U.S. President Leland Manning. His world is literally shattered when a failed assassination attempt against Manning leaves him disfigured and the President's best friend, Ron Boyle, dead. Eight years later, Wes continues working for the now-former President Manning, and manages to catch sight of the presumed-dead Boyle. Wes attempts to put the pieces together, but encounters resistance from all the major players in politics.
Critique
A fast-paced read from the popular author of political thrillers. Meltzer borrows a trick from Dan Brown, author of the DaVinci Code, and bases his novel on a conspiracy theory involving the Freemasons and multiple government agencies. Highly recommended for fans of political intrigue and history.
