Summary
Hoyt, a medieval sorcerer, is one of six people charged by the goddess Morrigan to stop an evil vampire, named Lilith, from taking over and brutalizing the world. Morrigan sends Hoyt to the 21st century where he is joined in his quest by his twin brother, Cian, whom Lilith made into a vampire, Cian’s friend King, and the witch Glenna. While waiting for the other people of the “circle” to join them, they travel to Ireland to train and fight a few skirmishes against the evil vampire horde.
Critique
This is the first book in Nora Robert’s Circle Trilogy. It is an entertaining paranormal romance involving vampires, sorcerers, witches, shape shifters, and other worlds. The series is an interesting twining of the modern world, Irish mythology, and vampire mystique. While being slightly predictable, the story keeps the reader's attention through quick moving action and good character development.
