Summary
An American living in Paris, Claire Berlinski is writing her next novel when she is e-mailed by a fan of Loose Lips-- her novel about a CIA trainee. Claire begins a daily correspondence with this fan, Arsalan, or the `Lion,` a mysterious archeologist living in Iran and to whom Claire is attracted. When Claire sublets a place in Istanbul, she meets Sally, an American CIA agent with an interest in Arsalan that compels Claire to set up a meeting between the two, and forces Claire to come face-to-face with the Lion on a night that will change their relationship forever.
Critique
An unusual and intriguing read that blends suspense, espionage and romance. With vivid descriptions of Paris, Istanbul and the Middle East. The blending of real and imaginary characters and fact with fiction makes this a clever and thought-provoking novel. The author knows how to deliver a real a-ha! moment. Highly recommend.
