Summary
Ethan Jarnewski works as a video-game developer in a huge corporation in Vancouver, Canada. His co-workers sit near him in the `J-Pod,` so named because all of their last names begin with the letter `J.` They spend their days doing random tasks and daring each other to accomplish the impossible. When Ethan arrives home to find his apartment filled with Chinese immigrants, he soon finds out that his roommate is involved in illegal activities. Soon everyone around him becomes embroiled in an absurd adventure that ends in communist China.
Critique
Fans of Coupland's Microserfs (1995) will find this novel very similar. It is filled with pop culture references and strange, eccentric characters. Computer techies will also love it.
