Summary
Ravirn, a grandchild of one of the three Fates, accidentally takes the mweb (the network his relatives use for magic) offline. When Ravirn finds out his aunt (one of the three Fates) plans to use the mweb to take away free will, he does his best to hinder her. His Order loving, Fate-sired family takes exception to Ravirn's Chaotic lifestyle and his opposition of aunt's plans and tries to have him stopped... or killed... whichever comes first.
Critique
WebMage is the first book in the Ravirn series. This book takes magic and puts it into an entirely different realm--the computer realm. It is not often you find an author imaginative enough to create an entirely new set of rules for magic to follow. McCullough manages to pull it off convincingly. WebMage was an enjoyable, innovative, well-written book. Its characterizations, plot, and new magic rules are very engaging. Recommended.
