Summary
Precious Ramotswe must solve two puzzles in the ninth of this popular series. She and assistant Grace Makutsi are the target of anonymous threatening letters. They have also been hired to find any relatives of a woman whose parents gave her up at birth. Mr. Matekoni surprises Precious with the news that he is mortgaging the Speedy Motors garage to pay for an unproven medical treatment for their disabled foster daughter.
Critique
McCall Smith writes four different series, but this one is a favorite because the author allows his wonderful sense of humor to shine through. The relationship between Precious and Grace grows with each story. Precious often encourages Grace to take the high road in dealing with life's problems. The richly described setting of Botswana adds to the reader's enjoyment. Highly recommended.
