Summary
Evelyn is embarrassed by her privileged background, so she’s constantly trying to make amends. Alexander is the son of recently immigrated, respected activists who fight for the working class, but Alexander wants to earn the money and power his parents protest against. Telling their story in alternating voices, Evelyn and Alexander don’t meet for a long time but suffer many near-misses. It’s the almost meetings that intrigued them both, but will they be able to find each other when they live such different lives?

Critique
The secondary characters are as wonderfully engaging as the main characters, and the whole story has a sense of hopefulness. The changing between narrators keeps up the pace, but don't go too fast or you'll be sorry you finished too soon. Highly recommended read.
