Summary
Emily Black was abandoned by her mother when she was a baby. Her father always told her that her mother left because she had to follow her desire to live in the punk rock scene. There is more to the story that she doesn't know. Emily was raised loving her father's music, and she spends her teens hanging out at an abandoned warehouse frequented by underground punk bands. Soon, she decides to start her own punk rock band. In doing so, she hopes to make it big and eventually find her mother at one of her concerts.
Critique
This is a well-written, moving story about a young girl struggling with her identity. Most intriguing are the descriptions of the up and coming bands of the times. It's a great rock and roll novel.
