Summary
A grown Sarah Carrier Chapman tells the story of her mother, Martha Carrier, one of the first women to be tried and hung as a witch in the town of Salem. Sarah also reveals her own nightmarish experiences as an accused witch, imprisoned along with her brothers when she was just nine years old.

Critique
The author, a descendant of Martha Carrier herself, delivers a fine first novel. The narrator's young voice adds a new perspective to a piece of American history that is already much covered. Ultimately, this is a story about the bond between mother and daughter. Recommend.
