Summary
Ren was deposited at St. Anthony's orphanage as a baby with only one hand and no memory of how he lost his other. Ren holds little hope of being adopted until one day, a stranger and con man, Benjamin Nab, appears and claims Ren as his kin. To Ren's dismay, Benjamin and his drunkard friend Tom work Ren into their act, selling elixirs and robbing graves to make their way through a rough nineteenth-century New England.
Critique
A charming read full of adventure, suspense, criminals and heroes. With loveable characters and unlikely friendships, this is sure to become a classic. Reminiscent of a more cheerful Huck Finn or Oliver Twist, Ren and his fellow orphans are an unforgettable bunch. Highly recommended reading.
