Summary
Judge Deborah Knott loves her ex-bootlegger father dearly, but his con man shenanigans could get them both in trouble. He pulled some strings years ago to get her appointed to the bench. Now there have been two murders in the community linked to underhanded real estate deals. Deborah knows her wily father is up to mischief because she saw him meeting with a preacher involved in the dealings. Is he trying to pull off the con of his life, or will his crafty scheme destroy the daughter he is trying to protect?
Critique
Fourteenth in the Deborah Knott mystery series. Author Maron just keeps getting better and better. Her portrayal of the old rural ways contrasted with the changes coming to the new South gives readers much to ponder. Family relationships and loyalties are again front and center in this new mystery. Highly recommend.
