Summary
After his wife leaves him and sells the farm that was his life's work, Cliff decides that a road trip might clear his head. As he crosses state borders, dropping state puzzle pieces along the way, he starts a project to rename the states and state birds. Along the way, he hooks up with a crazy former student for a sexual tryst and visits his movie making son who bemoans his father's aimlessness.

Critique
Cliff narrates this rambling tale, commenting on nature, a liberal arts education, farming, politics and cell phones. Lighter than Harrison's usual fiction, this is a funny, interesting ride.
