Summary
Sixteen-year-old Tessa is dying of cancer and has very little time to live. She writes a list of ten things she wants to experience before she dies. Feeling released from the normal obstacles of teenage life, she feels free to explore life without inhibition. As she strives to experience the normal curiosities of teenagers (sex, drugs, love), her failing body makes it difficult to keep up. In addition, she must deal with the heartbreak of her family and friends as she nears the end of her life.
Critique
Teenage and adult fans of deathbed romances will enjoy this one. Tessa is a typical teenager who finds herself confronted with the end of her life. She writes out a teenage `bucket list` and decides to live the rest of her life to the fullest. It begs the question, what makes life enjoyable? Downham's writing is moving and poetic.
