Summary
Fifteen-year-old Reed Brennan is looking for an escape from her troubled middle-class life in Pennsylvania. When she wins a scholarship to prestigious Easton Academy, she is elated. However, when she arrives on campus, she realizes she is in way over her head. Everyone is beautiful, well dressed and smarter than she. Reed is determined, however, to fit in and work hard. She meets Thomas Pearson, a cute boy on campus she feels connected to because of his troubled parents. And she meets the Billings girls, a powerful and popular girl clique on campus. She knows that if she could enter their inner circle she would be `in,` so she tries hard to get on their good side. But, when she starts to learn of their secrets, she realizes that friendship with the powerful has consequences.

Critique
Fans of The Clique and Gossip Girl will surely enjoy Private. This is the first title in a series. This one is more for older teens. Similar to Gossip Girl, it contains drug and alcohol use and sexual situations.
