Critique
Rich with historical details, this is a moving and memorable novel that teaches readers what slavery was like during the Colonial period. The author plans to continue Isabel's story in two upcoming related books, `Forge` and `Ashes.` Sad and suspenseful but also hopeful. Recommended reading.
