Summary
Living with his wife and son in Minnesota, Monte Becket is a struggling writer who has lost his muse. Monte is inspired when he meets the mysterious Glendon Hale, a boatbuilding drifter who asks Monte to travel with him to California. Their journey, however, quickly becomes one of escape, and Monte learns that Glendon is a murderous train robber on the run from ex-Pinkerton agent Charles Siringo.
Critique
This memorable novel has an old-West feel and charm to it. Loveable characters, adventure, and suspense combine to make this the perfect road story. Highly recommended reading.
