Critique
This atmospheric novel's setting will remind readers of a nastier version of Charles Dickens' England. A creepy and smart fantasy adventure that, according to the book's cover, appeals to those `ready to sidestep the goody-goody Harry Potters of adventure fiction.` Can be read in addition to, or independent of, Higgins' `The Black Book of Secrets.` Highly recommend.
