Summary
Ruth Blau is mostly satisfied in her role as wife to Ben, the philosophy chair at a small Texas university. When a celebrated memoirist and her husband join the faculty, Ruth hopes to reinvigorate her literary dreams as Ben deals with shakeups in his department. Meanwhile, Ruth and Ben wrestle with the demands of their mentally ill son, Isaac, who only contacts them through his therapist.
Critique
This work of domestic fiction is darkly comedic and unputdownable. Recommend.
