Summary
Much to the chagrin of her politician mother, super-shy Elaine Hamilton mastered Julia Child's recipes for French cuisine when she was just eight years old and has dreams of becoming a chef, secretly writing letters to Ms. Child and collecting them for years. When she is 16, Elaine finally makes a best friend in a very theatrical girl who goes by the name of the computer font `Lucida Sans.` Lucida is desperate to become famous, and the two hatch a plan to make both of their dreams come true.
Critique
With its girl-power theme, this fun, funny and lighthearted teen read might just inspire young readers to think outside of traditional career paths. Includes an adorable cameo by Julia Child herself. Highly recommended.
