Summary
Zoey Montgomery has just entered the House of the Night, a private boarding school for teens who have been Marked to become Vampyres. At her new school Zoey just wants to fit in, but that is impossible with her unusual Mark and special powers. Zoey soon discovers that she is not the only fledgling with special abilities. The leader of the Dark Daughters is also gifted, and she has been caught misusing her powers. Can Zoey and her new friends stop her before it is too late?

Cast puts an interesting twist on the vampire legend, infusing ancient Greek and Egyptian ideas, Wiccan, and Native American beliefs in Gossip Girl style. This first book in the House of the Night series contains some sexual content, profanity, and many pop culture references. The book is not spectacular but should satisfy diehard vampire/supernatural story lovers.
