Two branches of the royal Plantagenet family, York and Lancaster, fight for control of the English throne. Lancastrian widow Elizabeth Woodville Grey and Yorkist King Edward IV marry. Edward's brother, George, and the earl of Warwick unsuccessfully attempt to take the crown. When Edward suddenly dies from a chill, his brother Richard III steals the rights of the young Prince of Wales and crowns himself King. The young sons of Edward and Elizabeth disappear from the Tower of London.
