Summary
Mystery writer and part-time journalist Emily Kincaid moved to the remote parts of northern Michigan for solitude, but when she finds a woman's severed head in her garbage can, she begins to question her choice. Reluctantly, Emily joins forces with Deputy Dolly Wakowski, the prickly local policewoman, to investigate. When another woman turns up murdered, the unlikely duo must rely on their wits and small-town gossip to solve the crimes.
Critique
A likeable sleuth and a cast of interesting small-town characters make this a fine first in a new mystery series.
