Summary
John Perry, a 75-year-old retired writer, enlists in the Colonial Defense Forces. To do this, John and his co-recruits, must leave Earth never to return. They take a space elevator to where their minds are transferred to new enhanced bodies, which are based on their original DNA. After receiving basic training, Perry is shipped out for battle against intelligent alien species.
Critique
This very imaginative book is filled with speculation about technology, the destiny of humanity in outer space, and the moral implications of war. This, combined with a fast-moving story line and solid plot, makes for a winning read. Recommend.
