Summary
This novel follows three people: Miles is obsessed with finding his schizophrenic genius twin brother who has been missing for decades; Lucy is a young women who leaves her small Ohio town with her history teacher, hoping for new opportunities; and Ryan is a young man who, after discovering who his real father is, moves with him to Michigan where he joins him in the business of identity theft.

Critique
Opening with a chilling scene, Ryan and his father driving to the hospital with Ryan's severed hand in-tow, Chaon's novel never ceases to surprise, frighten, and mesmerize the reader. Dealing with themes of identity, family and place it is highly recommended.
