Summary
May and Pearl are living the good life in 1930s Shanghai until their father bankrupts the family with his gambling. In order to repay debt, the girls are married off to strangers, `wealthy` Chinese-American brothers who live in Los Angeles. Adjusting to life in a foreign land and living with a new extended family proves very difficult.
