Summary
Jane, an aspiring journalist, her sisters, and their clairvoyant mother travel from their home in Spirit Dale, New York to London in order attend a convention of spiritualists. An unusual series of events finds the sisters returning home on the luxury ship Titanic, despite premonitions of disaster. On board Jane is reunited with the famous inventor Nikola Tesla, an unusual acquaintance from her childhood, and his assistant. When disaster strikes, as predicted, it is one of Tesla's inventions that could save the sisters.
Critique
Steeped in historical facts, Distant Wave explores the issues of science, the existence of the paranormal, race and class, all from Jane's point of view. This is an intriguing story of unusual science, ghosts, romance, and, of course, the Titanic. Recommended read for both lovers of history and romance.
