Summary
Ten-year-old orphan Peter Duchenen goes to the town market to buy fish, but he instead pays a fortune-teller for information about his missing sister, Adele. The fortune-teller reveals that an elephant will lead Peter to Adele and later that night, a traveling magician accidentally conjures up an elephant. The lives of Peter and of the townspeople intertwine and are forever changed by the appearance of the pachyderm, but will Peter ever see his sister again?

A magical and hope-filled fairy tale of a story. This juvenile book is highly recommended for children of all ages and/or reluctant readers.
