Summary
Teen sisters Rosie and Skate are growing up at the Jersey shore with one parent, an alcoholic father who is in prison for theft. Rosie, the younger sister, goes to Al-Anon meetings and dreams of her first kiss. World-wise older sister Skate is coping by pretending she just doesn't care.

Critique
A tender coming-of-age story for both sisters, which realistically deals with teen relationships, sexuality, and family trauma. The dialogue is spot-on; the message somewhat optimistic. Recommended for older teens.
