Summary
Just after the events now referred to as "9/11," 20-year-old Midwestern college student Tassie Keltjin decides to become a nanny to a couple who plans to adopt. But as her year of employment with the glamorous and mysterious Sarah and Edward Brink and their newly adopted 2-year-old Mary-Emma unfolds, Tassie finds herself becoming more and more of a stranger to her former life.
Critique
Tassie is a quirky, self-deprecating heroine. Poignant and filled with darkly comic moments, this novel is part coming of age and part social commentary.
