Summary
When a radical terrorist group called Rubico Pentad succeeds in absconding with millions in ransom from the FBI, Deputy Director Kate Bannon tracks down former agent Steve Vail who is now working as a bricklayer. Vail takes the case and tracks the group to Los Angeles where he breaks bureaucratic rules to stay one step ahead of the bad guys.
Critique
Noah Boyd is a pseudonym used by a former FBI agent. I enjoyed the story and the fast-pacing, as well as the interaction between Kate and Vail. He's a strong, hero-type character like Jack Reacher or Jonathan Quinn of The Cleaner by Brett Battles. Usually I focus on the story and don't put too much effort into guessing the "bad guy" but in this case, I had a gut feeling who it was early on. Still, I would definitely recommend this to thriller fans.
