Summary
Dido Kent travels to Bellfield Hall at the request of her niece Catherine, when Catherine's new fiancé abruptly breaks their engagement and disappears. Upon her arrival, the inquisitive Dido learns that a woman has just been murdered on the estate's grounds. Just past the fashionable marrying age herself, yet not entirely sure that she is content to remain single, Dido ruminates her own choices as she tries to solve the crime of the murder, locate Catherine's betrothed, and susses out whether or not the events are connected.
Critique
A fabulous debut in a new mystery series. Filled with whip-smart detecting, memorable characters and period details, this historical will be enjoyed by mystery and regency fans. Highly recommend.
