Summary
Troubled times begin for the McKotch family on their last trip to the family home on Cape Cod when they realize that their daughter Gwen is unusually small. They soon learn that her condition is caused by a genetic abnormality. Her mother and father's polar reactions uncover deep divisions and cause their divorce. Meanwhile, her siblings Billy and Scott also suffer from secrets and misunderstandings. Eventually, the family learns that honesty and love will help heal their wounds.
Critique
An engaging novel about family relationships that rings true from beginning to end. The five characters are flawed but fascinating. Highly recommended.
