Summary
Part of a secret government agency, Corte is assigned to protect people who have been designated as human targets of professional assassins. He is known as a "shepherd." His enemy Henry Loving is called a "lifter," because his job is to lift information from the victim by any means necessary. Corte, a game theory expert, is assigned to protect the family of a D.C. police officer, trying to stay one step one step ahead of Loving and government bureacracy as well.
Critique
This first person narrative will keep you on the edge of your seat. Just when you think you have things figured out, you realize that Deaver tricked you with a red herring clue and you're really several steps behind. An amazing read.
