Summary
Olivia Harker has had a difficult life growing up dirt poor in Kentucky. Now an adult, living with her grandson and disagreeable mother, she finds that someone is threatening her and her family but doesn’t know why; however she is determined to find out who is behind the threats.
Critique
This book is set in the Depression-era South where racism always rears its ugly head. Some reviews compared the book to Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird, and there are similarities. A first and intriguing novel.
