Summary
Brooklyn born and raised, 15-year-old Samantha Bonti is determined to escape her upbringing and become a successful author but like most teens, she longs for romance. When she falls for the tough, older mobster-wanna-be Tony Manero, she becomes immersed in his violent world, where she is roughed up just for speaking her mind. Will Samantha's words set her free?
Critique
With spot-on Brooklyn-esque dialogue and plenty of action, this (perhaps too) autobiographical debut coming-of-age novel makes for a quick read. Think "Jersey Shore" meets "The Sopranos."
