Summary
The British Secret Service recruits private investigator Maisie Dobbs to go undercover and lecture in philosophy at the new College of St. Francis in Cambridge, a college dedicated to pursuing peace. They want Maisie to keep track of Greville Liddicote, founder of the college and author of a pacifist children's book that was banned by the government during the war. Grenville is murdered and Maisie becomes entrenched in the investigation even though she is warned by Scotland Yard to stay away from the case.
Critique
The eighth book in the Maisie Dobbs series is a good old-fashioned murder mystery. Recommend.
