Summary
After losing her children in a custody battle, Barb Barrett is broken and broke. Using inheritance money, she buys the former house of author Vladimir Nabokov and works answering mail for the local dairy. Her journey to self-discovery begins with the finding of a possible Nabokov manuscript in the house and leads to self-employment (a cathouse for the women of her town) and a new relationship.
Critique
Daniel's first novel is a non-traditional romance that's funny, engaging, and a bit off the wall. With a smart, perceptive, and saucy heroine, this novel is a fast read. Recommended.
