Summary
Seventeen-year-old Andi is deeply depressed and grieving because of the death of her little brother. When she finds herself close to expulsion from her private NYC high school, her father forces her to travel to Paris with him. There, she discovers the diary of Alex, a young woman who cared for the son of Louis XVII during the French Revolution, and Virgil, a hip-hop master who takes her under his wing.
Critique
Donnelly's latest is a feast for the reader - it's emotionally gripping, Andi's voice drips with teen sarcasm while being smart and insightful and the story of the French Revolution is fascinating. The narrators of the book on CD are especially talented. Highly recommended.
