Summary
When Troy Chance spots a boy being thrown overboard while on a ferry, she doesn't think: she leaps in after him, rescues him and takes him home to her apartment in Lake Placid. Eventually, after discovering the boy, Paul, was kidnapped, she returns him to his father in Ottawa and moves in with the family, becoming entangled in their lives and in the mystery of Paul's disappearance.
Critique
Foreboding and mysterious with intriguing characters and an unexpected ending, this is a promising debut novel. Recommended.
