Summary
Sixteen-year-old Jack just wants to forget all about being drugged and kidnapped, and he hopes his trip to London with his best friend will help. Unfortunately, a new nightmare begins when a stranger gives Jack an unusual pair of glasses. Through the lenses Jack is transported to a war-ravaged wasteland, where he is responsible for the survival of two young boys.
Critique
Underneath the horror is a powerful story of friendship, addiction, trauma, and the lengths the mind will go in order to protect itself. With both realistic and imaginary horrors, violence, drinking, and swearing this book is not for everyone. The writing is amazing and the story is unique and thought-provoking. Recommend with caution.
