Summary
In her senior year, Aubrey Lightsey seems to become a different person. She talks back to her mom, quits the school band, becomes the girlfriend to star quarterback Tyler Moldenhauer and worse, she no longer wants to go to college. Meanwhile, her mom, Cam, whose life has centered around Aubrey since they were left by Aubrey's dad for a cult-like religion, is distressed about these changes and is sure that Tyler is to blame.
Critique
A funny and touching novel told in alternating chapters, in the voices of Cam and Aubrey. A sort of coming-of-age story for both women, this novel about mother/daughter relationships examines their unique bond. Highly recommend.
