Summary
Wickham is accused of murder, with the actual shooting having occurred on the grounds of Pemberley. Feeling obligated to ensure justice be done on his land, Mr. Darcy is determined to winnow the truth out of all parties.
Critique
Austen's characters are lovingly recreated for this story and keep true to the nature she established in Pride and Prejudice. The murder mystery is well-crafted and full of smart surprises. A good choice for readers of Jane Austen, detail-rich historical fiction, and slow-paced mystery stories. Recommended reading.
