Summary
Liz's mother lovingly raises Liz and her sister despite their alcoholic father. That's why Liz can't understand her mother's decision to choose her new husband over her children, forcing Liz to find a way to take care of her younger sister and to discover her own path in life.
Critique
A moving portrait of a strong, intelligent young woman. Though the other characters are a bit stereotypical, Liz is anything but, and you find yourself rooting for her in this difficult, thoughtful novel.
