Critique
This haunting first novel is remarkable for describing how ordinary people might react to an environmental disaster that at first, doesn't seem so horrible: they horde food, switch to "clock time," and scapegoat neighbors who live differently. Julia, meanwhile, has trouble with friends, falls in love and begins to question her parents' marriage. Highly recommended.
